PublicSensors

Overview of Activities

PublicSensors activity modules will introduce you to sensor building which can help you explore the world around you. In these modules, you will develop technological skills in circuit building, engineering and computer science, and apply these skills to studying your local environments.

All modules have basic sensor building and sensor use activities, as well as advanced building and use activities for those who want to learn more.

Check out the sensors you can build below! If you are new to building your own sensor, start with Introduction.

Learn how to build basic circuits and interact with microcontrollers to send and receive information

Learn how to build a temperature sensor and use it see how temperature changes shape indoor and outdoor environments

Learn how to make a sensor that detects light intensity and use it to study how light availability differs in a local environment

Learn how to make an acoustic sensor that detects distance and use it to measure distances and water depths in environments around you
